Deloitte is working with global customers on cloud technologies to help them spot unseen business trends, transform, and curate data to find meaningful insights, and so on. Due to continued expansion, we’re searching for like-minded individuals to help us ‘take it to the next level’.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced developer of large-scale data solutions. You will join a team delivering a transformative cloud-hosted data platform for key clients

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in implementing data ingestion and transformation pipelines for large-scale organizations. We are seeking someone with deep technical skills in a variety of technologies to play an important role in developing and delivering early proofs of concept and production implementation.

You will get good experience in building solutions using a variety of open-source tools on a cloud platform and a proven track record in delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines.

As a Manager in our Cloud Engineering Team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations: -

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

The Database Lead is responsible for overseeing the management, design, implementation, and optimization of the databases. This role typically requires a strong background in database management, data architecture, and leadership skills.  This role involves leading a team of database administrators and building capability towards databases design, Migration and administration for various types of databases hosted on Cloud and on premise.

 

Desired qualifications

Database Management:

    • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and performance tuning of all databases.
    • Ensure data integrity, security, and availability of databases.
    • Implement and enforce data retention and backup policies.
    • Monitor database performance and optimize queries and data structures as needed.

Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of database administrators.
    • Assign tasks, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.

Database Design and Architecture:

    • Collaborate with data architects to design and maintain the database architecture.
    • Ensure database schemas and structures are efficient and scalable.
    • Participate in database design reviews and make recommendations for improvements.

Security and Compliance:

    • Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
    • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Database Technology Evaluation:

    • Stay up to date with database technology trends and assess their potential impact on the organization.
    • Evaluate and recommend new database technologies or tools that could enhance performance or reduce costs.

Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
    • Generate reports on database performance, usage, and compliance for management.

Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and business analysts to support application development and data-driven initiatives.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams for projects involving database integration and migrations.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • Proven experience in database administration, including experience with various database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
    • Strong knowledge of database design, architecture, and optimization.
    • Experience with database security and compliance standards.
    • Leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Certification in relevant database technologies is a plus (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
    • Experience – 10+ years

 

Additional Information:

 

    • This position may require occasional after-hours and weekend work to perform database maintenance and address critical issues.
    • Travel may be required for conferences, training, or to support remote office locations.

Location and way of working

  • Base location: Coimbatore
  • This profile does not involve extensive travel for work.
