Edge Network Engineer & Aruba Network Firewall Administrator
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Edge Network Engineer & Network Security Administrator to join our team and be responsible for securing our enterprise network through the management and administration of our Aruba network firewalls as well as designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting edge network solutions, with a specific focus on Juniper technologies. You will play a critical role in protecting our IT infrastructure and data from various cyber threats and play a key role in creating a robust and secure network infrastructure This position requires a strong understanding of firewall technologies, security best practices, and Aruba Network OS.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage Aruba network firewall policies to control network traffic flow and enforce security rules.
- Analyze network traffic and logs to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Configure and maintain firewall features like NAT, VPN, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and web filtering.
- Perform regular security audits and assessments of the firewall configuration.
- Respond to security incidents and take corrective actions promptly.
- Stay up to date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities as well as Aruba firewall updates and best practices.
- Configure and manage Aruba firewalls, including ClearPass Policy Manager, ClearPass Guest, and ArubaOS firewalls.
- Define and implement firewall policies for granular access control based on user roles, devices, and applications.
- Create and maintain network segmentation using VLANs and dynamic segmentation features.
- Monitor firewall logs and reports to identify and investigate potential security threats.
- Perform regular health checks and maintenance on firewall systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Document configurations and procedures for future reference.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure optimal network security and compliance.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support critical infrastructure during security incidents.
- Design, implement, and configure Juniper-based routing, switching, and security solutions at branch offices, remote sites, and other edge locations.
- Manage and optimize network performance, capacity, and availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to Juniper devices and configurations.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest Juniper technologies and best practices.
- Implement and maintain network security policies and procedures. manage network security policies and procedures.
- Configure, deploy, and manage Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls within the edge network environment.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on network devices and services.
- Monitor network performance and identify potential issues before they impact users.

- Document network configurations and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and teams to resolve network issues and implement new solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support critical infrastructure during outage situations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience administering network firewalls, preferably Aruba firewalls.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on edge networks.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, network protocols and security concepts.
- Proficient in Aruba Network OS (AOS) configuration and administration.
- Experience with firewall administration tools and scripting languages (Python, Bash) is a plus.
- Knowledge of security best practices and standards (NIST, CIS Controls).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of firewall concepts, including stateful inspection, access control lists (ACLs), and NAT.
- Familiarity with Aruba OS and ClearPass Policy Manager configuration and administration.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automating firewall tasks is a plus.
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach to cybersecurity

- Valid CCNA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Juniper certification (JNCIA, JNCIP, etc.) is a plus

- Experience with network automation tools, scripting languages, and configuration management is a plus.
- Proven experience with Juniper Networks routing, switching, and security technologies (MX Series, EX Series, SRX Series, etc.).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and concepts (IP routing, VPNs, QoS, etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, take ownership of projects.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Additional Information:
- This is a Level 2 position, requiring more experience and technical expertise than an entry-level role.
