Job Description:

As a Support Engineer specializing in OpenShift Cluster Maintenance on-prem, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and reliability of our OpenShift platform. You will be responsible for monitoring, and optimizing OpenShift / Kubernetes clusters to support our organization's applications and services. Your expertise will be instrumental in troubleshooting issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Administration: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as patching, upgrades, and configuration management for existing OpenShift clusters to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Implement monitoring solutions within the OpenShift infrastructure. Configure alerts and notifications to enable timely response to critical events.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve issues related to OpenShift clusters, including but not limited to networking problems, resource constraints, and application failures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Security and Compliance: Monitor compliance standards within the OpenShift environment. Ensure adherence to security policies, perform regular security audits.
  • Automation and Tooling: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks, automate deployments, and improve operational efficiency. Leverage infrastructure-as-code principles to manage OpenShift configuration and provisioning.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for the OpenShift platform. Share knowledge and best practices with other team members to build collective expertise.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to provide timely support for OpenShift-related initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat OpenShift DO280 / CKA) is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in installation, administration and maintaining on-prem OpenShift / Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and associated tools.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems administration and networking concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
